The End of Summer

So much has been going on since I last wrote:
  • Last week I noticed that my tire was getting low and a few days later notices the nail in it. That was fine because I knew that it wouldn't cost much to get it patched. I got the tire fixed yesterday, but they told me that my CV axil on both sides were blown and would need to be fixed asap to the tune of $400! So I will get that fixed tomorrow (I did find a slightly cheaper place, but it is still expensive).
  • Good/fun things: Our weekly social on Saturday was super special. The Stallions of Righteousness (that is what all the guys on project refer to themselves as) wanted to do something special for us (the ladies of project) so they escorted us to one of the churches that they had beautifully decorated and served us dinner and entertained us. It was so much fun. At the end of the night they said that they wanted to give us someting special...so we went outside in groups and they prayed for us. It just made me feel so increadably special.
  • Last night after our weekly meeting (which was incredible), we came back to camp and were told that the leadership had something planned. They proceded to individuallyt pray for them and wash the feet of our life group leaders. Our leaders then proceeded to pray for us and wash our feet. I have always loved the symbolism of washing feet because only a truely humble person would do that. I have really apprecialted the wisdom and maturity that the sudent leaders have brought to the project.
  • I started to pack today so clean-up tomorrow might go a little faster. Tomorrow is my last full day here. I will not miss Tahoe traffic (I know that I am spoiled because the traffic here really isnt that bad, but I still dont like it) and always being dirty. I will miss the amazing fellowship and close friendships that I have formed with everyone here on project. I am glad that UofI is not far and UW and all the Oregon schools are fairly close, but everyone who lives across the country I will be sad that I will not be able to see them regularly.
  • School starts on Monday!!!! I am really excited about living with Molly and starting my program. It is going to be an amazing year. I am really excited about what God could do this year in my dorm and on campus.
  • Outdoor activities: Yesterday a group of 16 (including myself) climbed Mt. Tallac. The climb is less that 10 miles round trip, but it is over 3,000 feet from the trail head to the summit. It took all morning, but the view at the top was magnificent. This morning, Andrea (in picture below) and I went Kayaking (sp?). We didnt think we would get very wet, but we were wrong. Our shorts were soaked, but we still had a good time. Now not only are my legs sore, bu also my arms!

So that was my week in a nutshell. Sorry that it is kinda long and now well written. I'll be home soon (for like 2 days) then to school!

Tires . . . I got a flat once. I ran over a curb. How dumb is that?
My school doesn't start until September 19. I got more'n a month left. But at least you're excited. Actually I am too. My last year in Yakima, how could I not be excited?
